How to Choose the Best Pillow
Choosing the right pillow is easier when you consider the following and your personal requirements. With different shapes, sizes, thicknesses and widths choosing the best pillow can be confusing – not to mention the different levels of ‘feel’, the fabrics and fillers.
Here’s the first thing to do:
Test your pillow. Bend your pillow in half, release the pillow and it should bounce back to shape. It not, it’s time to go!
Then :
Consider how you sleep. Are you a back, side or stomach sleeper? Are you currently on a high or low pillow? Does your head sit in line with your shoulders? If your mattress is firm you will sleep higher, needing a higher pillow, if plush you’ll probably require a relatively lower pillow.
The environment, Health and You
Some pillow materials are totally synthetic, don’t ‘breathe’ and ‘off gas’. Numerous studies link some materials with health. If in doubt, Natural Latex pillows are well worth investigating.
Comfort Counts
At this point – don’t over think it. Close your eyes and go with your feelings. The right pillow is the ‘right’ pillow for you. If you’re not comfortable, you’ll probably ditch it and it will most likely end up in the spare room.
Memory Foam
Studies have indicated the majority of those who choose a memory foam pillow are very happy with their decision to purchase. This come with a caveat. There is memory foam and there is memory foam. Often you get what you pay for. Mlily memory foam pillows are an outstanding choice. Why you say? Mlily memory foam pillows return to their shape every time, are hypoallergenic, are cooler to sleep on than other foams, don’t get hard and crumble and are more chemically stable than many of the alternatives. With a range of regular and contoured pillows they are worth trying before committing elsewhere.
So, what is Memory Foam?
Memory Foam is well foam with a ‘memory’. Developed by NASA for astronauts’ comfort and cushioning from G Forces during take off and landing, this special foam was quickly adopted by the medical field and bedding industry. Due to its unique moulding properties this material has become increasingly popular as it relieves pressure on the joints and cushioning the body, improving circulation while sleeping.
Natural Latex
The key here is ‘Natural’ – not synthetic, don’t be confused. Quality Natural Latex has a natural ‘milky’ scent, it’s a beautiful product with outstanding qualities. These qualities include being totally biodegradable, dust mite resistant, returns to shape every time, doesn’t contain harmful chemicals such as fire retardants, highly durable and super supportive and comfortable.
So, what is Natural Latex?
Natural Latex is derived from rubber trees grown on plantations in the tropics, all grown as a renewable resource. The latex milk is harvested when the tree is 6 to 8 years old, treated and moulded to shape. Many say its natures gift to bedding.
Microfibre
Microfibre is the material found inside cushions and toys. It is totally synthetic, doesn’t breathe and pillows made from this product tend to be constructed to a price.
These pillows generally have a soft ‘down’ type of feel. Being soft they alter shape and supply non-specific support.
Down and Feather
Being natural these feathers are literally harvested from ducks and geese. Down is the soft plumage from the area around the chest. Feathers are from the wings and back of the birds. Down and feather pillows are cuddly, soft, pliable and durable. These pillows mould to your neck providing outstanding comfort. The downside is that they can be a bit warm as they can ‘engulf’ the head, and those with allergies may been to take their health issues into consideration.
