A Bit of History
Memory Foam was invented in the 1970’s by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). It was designed to cushion astronauts against G-forces during lift off and landing. Today, a third generation non-temperature sensitive technology is used to produce our Mlily Memory Foam pillows, which makes Mlily the leader in the world of memory foam production.
The cushioning benefits of Memory Foam was quickly recognised for use as a bedding material in the medical community and the general bedding industry soon also recognised the benefits of this remarkable material.
Originally highly expensive, memory foam was limited to smaller items such as moulded helmets and medical cushions. Progressively as it has become less expensive and as the benefits were further recognised, memory foam started to be used increasingly for mattresses, mattress overlays and pillows at the higher end of the market.
